Message from the President

Reflecting on the history of Saga University, we recollect that Saga University was first established in 1949 from the pre-World War II Saga High School, Saga Teaching College, and Saga Youth Teaching College. Subsequently, Saga Medical School, set up in 1976 as the only national medical college in Saga Prefecture, was integrated into Saga University in 2003. Read more

RESEARCH FACILITIES

The Center for Regional Culture and History

The Center for Regional Culture and History at Saga University approaches the regional characteristics of Saga from the perspective of history and culture research. Based on this approach, we aim to create “Area Studies” as an academic system.

IOES

The current location of IOES, Yamashiro-cho, Imari city, is the reborn place of the former IOES facility, which was located at kurokawa-cho Imari city.
It cost 4.5 billion yen us to build new and expanded facility, which consists of 3 story buildings of 4,500m2 for experiment and research, respectively.

Synchrotron Light Application Center

Synchrotron Light Application Center, Saga University was established in 2001 in order to support the synchrotron light application project run by Saga prefecture on academic basis to serve as a regional research core and to conduct the cutting edge scientific research in the academic area.

Ceramic Research Center

Ceramic Research Center of Saga University will contribute to the revitalization of “Hizen”, north west area of Kyushu, by becoming an international academic research base of ceramics where art, science and management fields merge.
