令和元年度佐賀大学大学院入学式（10月期）告辞 President’s Welcome Address for the 2019 Saga University Fall Entrance Ceremony.
佐賀大学で学ぶため、アジア・アフリカの８か国・地域から集まってこられた15名の入学生の皆さん、ご入学おめでとうございます。新たに佐賀大学の一員となった皆さんを心から歓迎します。
To each of the fifteen (15) students representing eight (8) Asian and African countries who have come to study here at Saga University, congratulations! On behalf of the faculty, staff and students of Saga University, I would like to extend a hearty welcome to you.
本日、晴れて入学された皆さんは、それぞれ専門分野の学業、また佐賀でのキャンパスライフに対して、様々な希望と期待、そして少しの不安を持っておられることでしょう。
I believe that each of you have many hopes, expectations and perhaps, some concerns for your studies and campus life here in Saga.
しかし安心してください。私は、入学生の皆さんが学業に専念できる環境づくりを進め、一人一人が思い描く学生生活が実現できるよう、教職員とともにサポートしていくことをお約束します。何か困ったことがあれば、遠慮なく相談してください。
Please rest assured that we at Saga University will do our best to provide you with an enjoyable school experience and a good environment for your studies and research. If you have any problems, please count on us.
そして、人生の最も重要と言える時間を過ごす場所として、皆さんが選んだここ佐賀の地は、300年前に当時の武士の心構えや覚悟をまとめた「葉隠」が発祥し、幕末・明治維新期に多くの偉人を輩出したことで知られる「教育先進地」です。
Saga, where you have decided to spend this most important period of your life, is the birthplace of “Hagakure”, a book about the attitudes and dedication of the Samurai. From this area also came many historical people who greatly advanced the development of Japan through the Meiji restoration.
この地に暮らす地域住民の方々は、真剣に勉学に打ち込む学生に敬意をもって接してくれます。皆さんが勉学に集中できるよう、きっと温かく見守ってくれることでしょう。どうか、大学の先生や、学友だけでなく、異なる分野の多くの人々と接し、語り合い、佐賀でしか学べない多くのことを学んでほしいと思います。
People in Saga will treat with respect students who study hard and will watch over you warmly so that you can focus on your studies.Please learn about the many things that are unique to Saga. Make connections and form relationships not only with professors and fellow students, but also with people from all walks of life.
佐賀大学での学びが学問に限らず意義深いものとなり、将来のキャリアに繋がることを願っています。皆さんのご多幸をお祈りいたします。
