令和２年度佐賀大学大学院入学式（10月期）学長告辞 President’s Welcome Address for the 2020 Saga University Fall Entrance Ceremony.
佐賀大学で学ぶため，国内を含む世界の10か国・地域から集まってこられた23名の入学生の皆さん，ご入学おめでとうございます。新たに佐賀大学の一員となった皆さんを心から歓迎します。
To each of the twenty three (23) students representing ten (10) countries who have come to study here at Saga University, congratulations! On behalf of the faculty, staff and students of Saga University, I would like to extend a hearty welcome to you all.
本日，晴れて入学された皆さんは，それぞれ専門分野の学業，また佐賀でのキャンパスライフに対して，様々な希望と期待，そして少しの不安を持っておられることでしょう。
I believe that each of you has many hopes, expectations and perhaps, some concerns for your studies and campus life here in Saga.
入学生の皆さんが学業に専念できる環境づくりを進め，一人一人が思い描く学生生活が実現できるよう，教職員全員でサポートしていきます。何か困ったことがあれば，遠慮なく相談してください。
Please rest assured that we at Saga University will do our best to provide you with an enjoyable school experience and a good environment for your studies and research. If you have any problems, please count on us.
さて，全世界での新型コロナウイルス感染症流行の影響を考慮し，本日挙行予定の入学式の開催を中止することを決定しました。皆さんの健康面，安全面を考慮し，感染リスクを回避するため，何卒ご理解を頂きたいと思います。
Considering the impact of COVID-19 all over the world, we regretfully decided to cancel Entrance ceremony planned to be held today. We kindly ask your understanding on this decision to avoid the risk of infection, because your safety and health are our top concerns.
佐賀大学では，専門分野の知識の修得とともに，他者との協調性，主体的に学び行動できる力，地域が抱える課題を解決できる力等を育成するための教育に力を注いでいます。皆さんには，大学の先生や，学友だけでなく，異なる分野の人々と接し，語り合い，多くのことを学んでほしいと思います。また，学問に加えて，様々な新しいことに挑戦することで，将来のキャリアに繋がることを願っています。
Saga University puts effort not only into obtaining knowledge in the area of specialization but also into education which nourishes cooperativeness with others and the ability to study and act independently, to solve regional issues. So make connections and form relationships not only with your professors and fellow students, but also with people from all walks of life. I hope that your new challenges will be academically useful and will advance each of you in your future career.
私から，新たな1歩を踏み出した皆さんへ「志，挑戦，そして未来へ」というメッセージを送ります。
Finally, for all of you who have just embarked on this new chapter, I would like to give this message “Will and Challenge toward the Future”.
